Photographic breakdown

Unfortunately my camera seems to have packed up for some unknown reason. I have taken loads of photos of my latest efforts but when I tried to upload them on Sunday it didn't work. I then tried to test the camera by taking a few more pictures and it failed there too. So, I need to spend a bit of time working out what has happened. Apologies for the lack of updates, but there should be plenty once the camera is up and running again.

More Western Roman Auxiliary Archers

This week saw me complete the second batch of auxiliary archers from the western part of the Empire. These chaps look very Gaulish, from the 'taches, and most probably served on one of the frontierlands like Hadrian's Wall or along the Rhine.

The picture below shows all 16 of them. I have a large unit of normal auxiliary troops that they will be attached to, which I will try to get round to painting sometime later this year.

All of these minis are part of the Warlord Games Early Imperial Roman range.

Next up on the blog will be some fantasy minis. I have a couple more wizardly types to finish, a troll and some Dark Age style footmen, as well as those pesky 2000AD Judges (but these may take a little while longer as I will be ordering them some new bases).

I am a little behind on my painting tally so far this year, but the next few weeks should see me catch up a little.

I managed to sort out some of my Games Workshop Rohan troops this weekend. So far I have the following to get started on...

36 Warriors of Rohan

24 Riders of Rohan

6 Royal Guard on foot

6 mounted Royal Guard

Several heroes (Theoden, Eomer, Gamling, Hama, Eowyn and Theodred)

In boxes I still have more elite and hero style troops.

I will get a fully documented table added soon including points values. Should keep me out of mischief for a while at least.

Western Roman Empire Auxiliary Archers

It has been a while since I last posted, but I have been cracking on in the background. Unfortunately I haven't got anything finished until today. Here are the first 8 of 16 Roman auxiliary archers from the western half of the Empire...

The next eight should be ready within the next week or two, along with some other minis that have been hanging around on the work bench for quite some time.

I have decided on a summer project for this year. I am going to paint/repaint all of my Games Workshop Lord of the Rings Rohan figures. I haven't counted them as of yet, but there are around 80-90 minis in that particular force. They should take me a couple of months to complete, so I'll get my paint station sorted (i.e. finish all the minis that are in a half finished condition currently) in time for the project.

Fallen Idol

I didn't get much done this weekend - just another fantasy stachoo. Here's a picture of the last two entries about to come to blows over the fallen idol objective.



Here's a better picture of the statue itself. Its another of the Games Workshop Lord of the Rings scenery set. There are two or three more to be completed, but they make good fillers for when I get little time to paint.

Blog Makeover

I decided to give the blog a little make over after the New Year celebrations were over.

The first thing I decided to change was the title picture, and I will try to change it every year or if a particularly nice picture turns up on my camera - I am not a good photographer and if I get a good photo it is more through luck than judgement.

The first picture was of Castlerigg stone circle near Keswick in Cumbria, taken whilst on holiday in the Lake District in 2005.

The latest one is of a 1970s mock up of a Roman milecastle at Vindolanda. The Roman castle photo was taken on a trip to Hadrian's Wall during the summer of 2008.

This evening I made a few more tweaks to get the colours to match across the site. I may go the whole hog soon and change the template to something that looks a little more ordered.
